Rachel Tarpley graduated from Barrett, The Honors College at Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management. Awarded summa cum laude for her undergraduate degree, she also completed and defended her Honors thesis, “The Hierarchy and Marketing of Comfort.” This thesis explores the psychological phenomenon of comfort and how marketers can effectively address customers during times of uncertainty. Along with studying business management, Tarpley studied three years of the Japanese language and two years of Japanese culture and religion. This additional academic perspective helped shape her passion for international business and cross-cultural management.

While studying at ASU, she tutored student-athletes in economics, math, accounting, business writing, supply chain management, and data analytics. Additionally, Tarpley was a part of the Black Business Student Association. In her free time, she was a freelance web designer for small businesses and created her own website that connects users to Black-owned businesses in Arizona.
