Subject Matter Expert

Gabe Preston augments the Blue Stone Housing Team as a Subject Matter Expert where he provides economic and demographic analysis along with assistance with housing and economic development strategic planning.

With 22 years of consulting experience, Gabe brings a balance of both the technical elements of planning and the community outreach side of the job.  As a lead consultant on numerous comprehensive plans, for economic development as well as housing, his style as a strategic planner involves inclusive facilitation that encourages authentic public involvement and builds support for each plan.

Gabe’s ability to build community support is complemented by his technical knowledge, stemming from his experience as project lead for over two hundred technical planning projects including housing needs assessments, economic analysis, feasibility studies, utility rate studies, market studies, fiscal analysis, impact fees, economic development planning, infill planning, long-range planning, and GIS mapping.

Gabe’s educational background is in mathematics and philosophy (BA, St. John’s College, Santa Fe) and geography (MA, University of Colorado, Boulder).
