Compensation Specialist
As a Compensation Specialist, Elena Chavez, QKA, RPA has spent over ten years in Human Resources and benefit plan administration, which includes detailed work as a consultant in the Per Capita, Minor’s Trust, and retirement plan administration field. With this experience, she has dealt with payroll, compensation, benefit reviews and high-level customer service, most of which has been with Tribal Members and Tribal Leadership.
Chavez’s background includes four years of legal assistance specializing in employee benefits. She has extensive knowledge of health and retirement plans, with a strong understanding of nonprofits and Tribal organizations.
Chavez brings to our team a high level of problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills, alongside an understanding of Tribal culture and the unique issues indigenous communities face.
Chavez has a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of New Mexico, and has earned her Qualified 401(k) Administrator (QKA) and her Retirement Plans Associate (RPA) designations. She is presently working towards obtaining her NNAHRA Tribal Human Resources Professional (THRP) training.
Chavez has a passion for giving back to her community and supporting nonprofits. She spearheaded a giving campaign with a previous employer and was able to bring interest and diversity to the giving opportunities in order to create inclusivity while generating higher participation from employees.
