Initial Compensation: $127,007.66 – $158,759.58
Position Summary: This position plays a pivotal role in supporting the healthcare operations of our clients. This position requires a deep understanding of the unique healthcare challenges faced by client communities, coupled with strong leadership, strong clinic operations, and organizational analysis experience. The Assistant Healthcare Services Director will work closely with the Healthcare Services Director and BSSP leadership to optimize healthcare delivery systems, improve efficiency, and enhance the overall quality of care for our clients and communities served.
Core Duties and Responsibilities: The Assistant Healthcare Services Director is involved in a variety of tasks in all areas of Blue Stone's business activities. These tasks are generally categorized in the following areas:
Clinic Operations
- Work closely with the Healthcare Services Director and other team members to provide strategic and operational leadership for healthcare clinics in Indian Country.
- Observe, analyze, and recommend solutions that stem from oversight of client clinic operations, including appointment scheduling, patient flow, and resource utilization, to optimize the delivery of healthcare services.
- Develop and implement solutions to enhance the quality of healthcare services provided, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and guidelines.
- Execute project plans, monitoring progress and addressing any obstacles that may arise.
- Utilize data analytics to identify trends, assess clinic performance, and make data-driven recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Advise on the appropriate organizational structure for health systems in Indian Country; tailored to fit the needs of the clients' current needs while supporting future growth.
- Work closely with the finance team to manage the budget for healthcare clinic operations, ensuring fiscal responsibility and resource optimization.
- Explore and implement technology solutions to improve healthcare delivery, patient engagement, and administrative efficiency within the clinics.
- Collaborate with department heads, subject matter experts, and key stakeholders to identify training needs and ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
- Foster positive relationships with stakeholders to facilitate smooth implementation processes.
- Conduct interactive workshops and training sessions to educate staff on best practices, industry standards, and organizational procedures.
- Modify training strategies based on feedback to continuously improve the effectiveness of staff development initiatives.
Healthcare Services Team Support
- Support the professional growth and development of the internal healthcare services team by implementing training programs, mentorship opportunities, and performance improvement plans as needed.
- Share knowledge with the team to enhance their skills and keep them informed about industry advancements.
- Assist with the recruitment of staff and ensure onboarding and training of new staff members
- Assist with the development of budgets and monitoring; provide training where necessary.
- Ensures each member of the healthcare services team demonstrates a deep understanding and respect for the cultural nuances and healthcare needs specific to our client communities, ensuring that services are culturally sensitive and tailored to the unique requirements of each community.
Relationship Management
- Assist with increasing clients' capacity to advance programs, and provide research and technical assistance, while developing systems to assist with improving Tribal public health and promote good health in the community.
- Work with community leaders and community members to create buy-in and input on health services and initiatives.
- Foster positive relationships with Tribal leaders, community members, and healthcare providers to promote collaboration and address the healthcare needs of the community effectively.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word processing applications, spreadsheet software, and Project Management software.

- Experience with Federally and privately funded grant operations
- Direct experience with a strong clinic operations background and/or hospital administration and budgeting expertise
- Thinks and acts strategically and effectively to help increase capacity to advance programs, and provide research, technical assistance, policy development, and partnership building.
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
- Experience in the management of public health programs and projects, including grant writing, program evaluation, and reporting
- Strong communication and facilitation skills with all levels of an organization, including the ability to assess gaps, identify, and implement solutions
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to work effectively with internal staff, stakeholders, vendors/contractors, and others
- Knowledge of the Federal grant application process and the ability to interpret State and Federal public health programs, laws, and regulations, including interpretation of policy directives and changes and program compliance; budgeting and finance requirements
- Thorough understanding of direct, indirect, and contract support costs
- Excellent data analysis, verbal, and written presentation skills; detail-oriented
- Ability to develop and maintain extensive contacts and interact with a variety of partners including Tribal, Federal, corporate, and nonprofit entities
- Ability to foster public trust and maintain professional ethical conduct at all times
- Proven leadership skills within and across organizations; ability to build consensus and resolve conflict with all stakeholders
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation
- Demonstrated effectiveness in identifying operational issues and gaps, and recommending and implementing solutions to resolve those issues and gaps

- Budgeting, planning, and analysis experience

- Experience in market research
- Persuasive writing and strong verbal communication skills
Education And Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree with 10 years proven management experience required. Master's Degree in Public Health, Health Administration, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- Three (3) years in an executive leadership capacity with fiscal oversight; including health operations
- Previous experience as a Director or Executive Administrator for a Tribal health department or similar organization is preferred
- Experience in data analysis and utilization of technology in healthcare operations.
- Understanding of healthcare regulations and compliance standards.
